Pre-use review

The problem

Standard 1.3 requires assessment tools to be reviewed before they are used with learners, and the outcomes of that review to inform any changes. It sits apart from the validation cycle under 1.5, so an RTO can validate well and still be non-compliant here. Done by hand, the review means reading each tool against the current release, which is where outdated or uncontextualised tools get through.

The solution

Post-use validation

The problem

Validation is now risk-based. The fixed sample is gone, and the RTO must justify what it checked and why. Reviewing marking by hand rarely catches where assessors disagree, and findings too often stop at a folder instead of improving the tool, a known risk in the Quality Area ASQA scrutinises most.

The solution

The platform samples real student evidence straight from your LMS (risk-based, with a statistically valid baseline available) and flags:

Marking consistency: where the same evidence was marked differently across assessors
Authenticity concerns: responses that may need a closer look
Tool quality: where a whole cohort answered a question poorly, pointing to the question, not the learners

A panel review feature (in development) will log who reviewed, what they found, and what changed, closing the loop from finding to improvement. These are flags, not verdicts: your credentialed people still decide.
